Empowering Flood Control withTechnology: Hunan Puqi Research Institute Participates in Shitang Reservoir Emergency Drill in Xiangjiang New Area

Time : 2025-06-24 Hits : 71

Hunan Puqi Research Institute was invited to take part in a flood control emergency drill held at the Shitang Reservoir in Xiangjiang New Area, Hunan. The drill commenced with a tense yet orderly atmosphere and was conducted on a large scale, involving the coordinated participation of over 20 organizations and more than 200 rescue personnel. The exercise focused on five major categories and simulated 15 full-process emergency response scenarios. The drill depicted a critical situation where, under extreme rainfall conditions, the water level of the Shitang Reservoir rose one meter above the flood warning threshold, posing a severe threat to downstream residential areas. Additional secondary disaster scenarios, including urban flooding, landslides, and reservoir piping failures, were also simulated. The objective was to comprehensively enhance the capacity to respond to extreme weather and flood-related emergencies.

Among the advanced equipment featured in the drill, products from the Puqi brand stood out.As a high-tech enterprise specializing in geophysical exploration, pipeline leak detection, and disaster prevention and mitigation, Puqi brought its PQ-227A Levee Seepage Detector and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to the exercise. These devices provided strong technical support for flood prevention and emergency response operations.

The Puqi PQ-227A Levee Seepage Detector played a critical role during the reservoir piping emergency response segment of the drill. Piping and seepage pose significant threats to dam safety; if not detected and addressed promptly, they can lead to structural instability and severe consequences. The PQ-227A performed excellently under the complex drill conditions, thanks to its advanced technologies. Equipped with a high-performance amplifier and AD converter, combined with FFT digital filtering technology, the device achieves a measurement accuracy of up to 0.001 mV. It can precisely detect subtle changes in soil potential differences beneath the levee, providing reliable data for accurate assessment of seepage and piping risks.During the drill, operators quickly detected abnormal soil potential signals in the simulated piping zone using the device. The PQ-227A is also designed for ease of use, featuring a high-speed CPU with full automatic control, a user-friendly interface, and menu-guided operation. This allows even non-technical personnel to operate the device efficiently, significantly improving on-site response effectiveness.

Meanwhile, the Puqi Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) also demonstrated outstanding performance during the drill. The PQWT-GPR series from Puqi utilizes real-time sampling technology, with a system repetition period of 6.25 ns. It supports both wireless and wired data transmission modes, allowing flexible switching based on different application scenarios. The GPR played a vital role in identifying potential hidden risks within the dam structure. By emitting and receiving high-frequency electromagnetic waves, the device quickly detects underground material distributions, clearly revealing subsurface geological structures. This enables personnel to promptly identify potential hazards such as loose soil layers or cracks. In complex terrains and challenging environments, the Puqi GPR proved to be stable and reliable, providing accurate data support for geological hazard monitoring throughout the exercise.
